The Pemmican storage life is longer then Jerky. Hundred year old Pemmican has been found and was still "edible"...
Pemmican also has more fats then Jerky, which makes it a better food (not pure protein).
Jerky also goes bad if you don't trim the fat. That fat contains moisture which allow bacteria and mold to grow.
Pemmican is made with fats which are Rendered, which drives out the moisture, thus avoiding the bacteria/mold risk.
DO NOTE that adding fruits to Pemmican may introduce moisture, shortening the storage life, even if it makes a more nutritious food which also tastes better.
If you are using dried fruits (really dry), then they will store very well by themselves. They can then be added to simple Pemmican in small batches, so you eat only as much the batch. You get good storage life for both Pemmican and fruit, at the cost of storing two items rather than one.
